Caroline always wanted a career that combined Art and Theatre. With strong foundations in Art through studying at school and college she started out assisting with youth theatre and arts and crafts workshops for children. Caroline trained at The Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating in 2008 with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Practice, specialising in Scenic Art. Whilst training Caroline worked on over 15 in house public productions, gaining valuable experience as a Scenic Artist and Head Scenic Artist in theatre production situations, developing her craft and furthering her artistic skill.

She has worked extensively in Theatre, painting many pantomimes, including Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin at Watford Palace Theatre. Notably Caroline worked on the site specific performance The Drowned Man, in 2013, for Punchdrunk at Temple Studios in Paddington, London. Here she spent months transforming the old Post Office sorting facility into a theatrical version of a film set for an audience to wander through. This is in addition to working on Masque of the Red Death with Punchdrunk in 2008 at the Battersea Arts Centre (BAC). Where she spent three months designing and painting a victorian world to bring plays of Edgar Allan Poe to life for the audience.

Caroline has worked internationally as a Scenic Artist in New York, USA. This was for Stagedoor Manor, a performing arts training centre for children.  Here she painted forty theatre productions over a summer season in a team of three.

Caroline has worked in other areas of the industry, painting for television programmes and spending time creating high quality window displays in London for the designer fashion stores of Ralph Lauren.

Caroline enjoys painting Trompe L'Oeil pieces and is hoping to do more photo realistic work. She hopes to work on larger scale projects in the future and move into other areas of Scenic Art. She has recently gained a Masters degree in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy, additionally developing her career in other areas of the arts. She will combine this experience with Scenic Art to become a multi disciplined creative practitioner.

I am a freelance Scenic Artist based in London and Hampshire, UK.

Working as a Scenic Artist means working from designs and models to create the painted and textured elements of a project on a much larger scale. I also work from briefs and can create a design with a client to fit the purpose of the project.

This can be done for many different events including, but not limited to: Theatre, Television, Window Displays and Murals. It regularly involves being creative and problem solving to achieve the best possible result.

I am avaliable to work on site or create commissions for different styles of projects. I work successfully independently or as part of a pre exisiting scenic / production team.
